About Us
Djerriwarrh Community College is a registered independent special assistance senior secondary school located in Melton. We deliver the Victorian Pathway Certificate (VPC) and VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) for students aged 15–19 years, providing a safe and inclusive learning environment for young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education. The college is moving to a newly built campus in early 2026.
The Role
As Principal, you will lead a small, community-based school with a maximum enrolment of 60 students in 2026. You will be responsible for:
- School operations, finances, compliance, and risk mitigation
- Learning programs and student welfare
- Staffing, administration, and strategic management
- Acting as Executive Officer to the Djerriwarrh Community College (DCC), School Council and Djerriwarrh Community & Education Services (DCES) Board
- Leading the implementation of school policies and procedures ensuring compliance with regulatory authorities
This is a part-time job share position (0.6 FTE), with preferred working days Monday to Wednesday.

Essential Requirements
- Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) Registration
- Working with Children Check clearance
- Satisfactory National Coordinated Criminal History Check
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- Demonstrated experience in a similar leadership role, ideally within a school setting
- A strong understanding and commitment to child safety legislative requirements, equal opportunity and Work Health and Safety within a school environment.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience in the independent special assistance sector
- Experience in Trauma informed practice and working with vulnerable young people
- Youth Mental Health First Aid, Berry Street Education Model, First Aid & Anaphylaxis Training (or willingness to undertake)
